Coordinator II: Marketing (P8) (UJ Sport Division)
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is looking for a dynamic and creative Marketing Coordinator to join its Sport Division. This is a permanent, full-time position where you will play a crucial role in promoting UJ Sport and attracting talented students and athletes to the university. Your Role as Marketing Coordinator
As the Marketing Coordinator for UJ Sport, you will be responsible for a wide range of marketing activities. Your main goal will be to attract potential students and sports enthusiasts to the university and its sports programs through effective marketing and communication. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive marketing approach for UJ Sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing strategies and programs for UJ Sport.
- Analyze sports data and market trends to inform marketing decisions.
- Conduct market research in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Create engaging promotional and marketing materials, including posters, flyers, and social media graphics.
- Act as the primary marketing liaison for UJ Sport activities.
- Actively engage with UJ Sport supporters and the wider community through social media channels.
- Highlight and share UJ Sport achievements across various platforms.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts for UJ Sport, including planning and executing sponsorship campaigns.
- Assist clubs, divisions, and related entities in developing and implementing sponsorship plans.
- Collaborate with UJ management on fundraising initiatives.
- Provide regular written reports on marketing plans, progress, and achievements.
- Manage budgets and resources for marketing and communication campaigns.
- Stay updated on marketing developments and trends, both internally and externally.
- Organize and host special UJ Sport events such as Golf Days and Gala awards.
What You’ll Need
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Marketing or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Project management qualification and/or proven experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in marketing and communication, preferably within a university or sport environment.
- Familiarity with university systems, structures, policies, and procedures is a plus.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles is advantageous.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong planning, organizing, and time management abilities.
- Keen attention to detail and good listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel).

- Strong presentation skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Good administrative capabilities.
- High level of creativity and originality.
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to evaluate market trends and identify target audiences.
- Experience in setting marketing goals.
- Knowledge of web tools like HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Experience with SEO/SEM management and ad server tools.
Working Conditions:
- May require travel between UJ campuses.
- Flexibility to work outside normal working hours when required.
