

Compliance Specialist: FATCA/CRS
Are you an experienced legal and compliance professional with expertise in FATCA/CRS regulations? Capitec Bank is looking for a dedicated Compliance Specialist to join our team in Stellenbosch.
In this vital role, you will help the bank effectively manage its regulatory and compliance risks. You will provide essential guidance and oversight to various business units, ensuring that Capitec operates in an efficient, responsible, and sustainable manner.
About the Role: What You’ll Do
- Assist Capitec Bank in identifying, assessing, and mitigating regulatory and compliance risks.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight to business units to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Contribute to maintaining a strong compliance culture within the bank.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Experience:
- 4-5 years of proven experience in financial services compliance or a legal role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including executive management (Exco).
- Direct experience with oversight of legislation pertaining to the financial services sector.
Ideal Experience:
- Experience with oversight of legislation relating to specific portfolios within financial services, such as credit insurance or funeral cover.
- Familiarity and understanding of Capitec Bank’s products and services.
Qualifications & Certifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
- Admitted Attorney.
Ideal Qualifications & Certifications:
- Honours Degree in Law.
- Relevant Certification from the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa.
Key Knowledge Areas
Minimum Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act) and LTIA (Long-term Insurance Act).
- Solid knowledge of general law/legal practice principles.
- Expertise in compliance and risk management frameworks.
- Understanding of compliance monitoring methodologies.
Ideal Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Capitec Bank products and services.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of business practices and processes.
- Experience with effective stakeholder engagement practices.
- Knowledge of compliance software and systems.
Essential Skills
- Excellent Project Management Skills (knowledge of specific methodologies is a plus).
- High level of Computer Literacy (proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
- Strong Interpersonal & Relationship Management Skills.
- Effective Planning, Organising, and Coordination Skills.
- Proven Problem-Solving Skills.
