CLINICAL NURSE PRACTITIONER (PHC) GRADE 1 ONLY ( CONTRACT TILL 31 MARCH 2026)
The Department of Health, Primary Health Care Directorate, is looking for highly dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse Practitioners (PHC) Grade 1 to join their team. This is a contract position until 31 March 2026, offering a competitive annual package plus benefits. We are seeking 25 qualified professionals to contribute to optimal holistic specialized nursing care within the Ekurhuleni Health District.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner (PHC) Grade 1, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services. This includes delivering specialized nursing care, efficiently managing resources, participating in training and research initiatives, and upholding high professional and ethical standards. You will also play a key role in promoting the quality of nursing care in line with core standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide optimal holistic specialized nursing/clinical care adhering to set standards and within professional/legal frameworks.
- Effectively utilize human, material, and service resources.
- Participate in training and research activities.
- Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and facilitate the development of yourself and subordinates.
- Plan and organize your own work, act as a team leader, and make relevant decisions regarding patient care.
- Promote the quality of nursing care as directed by core standards.
Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in terms of Government Notice R425 (Diploma / Degree in nursing as a Professional Nurse).
- Post-Basic Qualification with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice R48, in a relevant specialty such as Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of appropriate experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- Registration: Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Package & Benefits
R476,367.00 per annum (plus benefits).

Ekurhuleni Health District, Germiston, Gauteng.
