CLINICAL MANAGER (DENTAL) GRADE 1

The Gauteng Department of Health invites experienced and dedicated Dental Professionals to apply for the role of Clinical Manager (Dental) Grade 1 at the Wits Oral Health Centre. This is a critical leadership position within the Office of the CEO, responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of dental and oral health services.

About the Role

As a Clinical Manager (Dental) Grade 1, you will play a pivotal role in managing and supervising all clinical and allied oral health services within the Wits Oral Health Centre. Your leadership will ensure the provision of safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care and treatment, aligning with provincial and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all clinical and allied oral health services.
  • Ensure the provision of safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care and treatment.
  • Oversee the effective management, implementation, and adherence to clinical governance.
  • Conduct patient redress procedures and compile detailed reports for medico-legal cases.
  • Develop and monitor the institutional Annual Operational Plan, presenting performance reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality assurance programs in line with Provincial and National Standards.
  • Support the implementation of the Ideal Hospital Realisation and Maintenance Framework.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).
  • Perform clinical audits and provide support to other departments to ensure comprehensive clinical services.
  • Lead and drive Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) Programmes.
  • Implement cost containment measures, analyze budgets, and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Monitor commuted overtime and ensure adherence to the Remunerative Work Outside the Public Service (RWOPS) policy.
  • Undertake any other duties as delegated by management.

What You Need (Requirements)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • An appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Dentist.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as a Dentist after registration with the HPCSA.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience within a Dental setting or Hospital environment will be a significant advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of ethical medical practice.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory abilities.
  • Demonstrated competency and skill in the clinical domain.
  • Sound planning, negotiating, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze information effectively and solve complex problems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in stressful situations.

Compensation & Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary package ranging from R1,422,810.00 to R1,576,977.00, excluding commuted overtime. This role is graded as Grade 1.

Location

This position is based at the Wits Oral Health Centre in Johannesburg.
