Clinical Educator: Audiology
Are you an experienced Audiologist passionate about education and clinical practice? The University of Cape Town (UCT) is looking for a dedicated Clinical Educator to join the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders within the Faculty of Health Sciences. This permanent, part-time position (25 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of Audiology professionals in a dynamic academic environment.
You will play a vital role in strengthening the Audiology program through clinical education, academic research, and contributing to valuable community service.
About the Division
The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders is part of UCT’s Department of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, committed to excellence in education and health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to undergraduate Audiology students.
- Develop and expand clinical training sites to ensure optimal student learning and foster inter-disciplinary collaboration.
- Engage in scholarship to promote and encourage evidence-based practice within Audiology.
- Create and adapt appropriate clinical teaching materials.
- Undertake administrative and management duties at both divisional and departmental levels.
- Fulfil clinical service responsibilities to maintain and grow practice learning sites.
Requirements
To be considered for this exciting role, you should meet the following criteria:
- A 4-year professional degree in Audiology.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in clinical Audiology.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience facilitating clinical education for university students.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Demonstrable experience in vestibular assessment, therapy, and electrophysiology.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Beneficial Skills & Experience
Having any of the following would be an advantage:
- Experience in paediatric vestibular assessment and therapy.
- Previous undergraduate academic teaching experience in vestibular management.
- A strong focus on rehabilitation, particularly vestibular rehabilitation therapy.
Salary & Benefits
The annual cost of employment for this permanent part-time (25 hours per week) position, including benefits, is R 540,821.
