Job Description
The University of the Free State is seeking a Chief Officer: Counselling/ Clinical Psychologist to join its Student Counselling and Development department on the Qwaqwa Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing psychotherapy and counselling services to students, identifying and diagnosing serious psychological problems, and referring students to other professionals when necessary.
Other responsibilities include:
- Conducting psychometric assessments and providing career counselling
- Performing psychological screening and first-level interventions
- Designing and presenting developmental workshops for students
- Marketing the service
- Office management and administration
- Participating in the Division of Student Affairs’ goals and objectives
Inherent Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- A Master’s degree in Counselling/ Clinical Psychology on NQF Level 9
- Active registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the category Counselling/ Clinical Psychology
- Minimum one (1) year’s experience working with students in Higher Education, or in working with young adults
