About the Role

As a Business Manager at Capitec Bank, you will play a crucial role in providing proactive sales and service management for a diverse portfolio of business clients. Your primary responsibility will be to retain and grow this portfolio by identifying and implementing value-adding and specialised business banking financial product solutions. This involves offering both standard and customised financial offerings to meet the unique needs of your clients.

Minimum Experience Required

  • At least 5 years of banking experience, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in a Business Banking environment.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing a complex portfolio of business customers, with a strong focus on service delivery and financial analysis.
  • Significant experience in preparing and motivating Credit applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost control and sales management.

Ideal Experience

  • 1-2 years of managerial or leadership experience.
  • 1-2 years experience managing a small business centre.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management or Finance.

Ideal Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Finance.

Required Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of business economics principles and the current business economic environment.
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of various industry sectors, their risk profiles, and trends (including understanding the impact of climatic conditions on the agricultural market if applicable to your portfolio).
  • Understanding of local market (LM) sales principles and practices to manage and optimise client retention and growth.
  • General banking practices and procedures.
  • Awareness of competitor product offerings, channels, and operational/marketing tactics.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit principles and practices, including an understanding of credit application and securities.
  • Understanding of legal entities (companies, close corporations, sole proprietorships, etc.) in the commercial market and the legislative restrictions and requirements governing these from a financial services perspective.
  • Familiarity with the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).
  • Ability to extract, analyse, and apply CRM insights to influence client management approach and strategy.
  • General understanding of how Business Banking operates, including business risks, industry risks, and financial requirements pertaining to the business market.

Ideal Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the features, benefits, and value propositions of various Capitec product/service offerings.
  • Knowledge of multi-level products available and pricing structures.
  • Understanding of current taxation laws as they apply to customers.
  • A good knowledge of administration processes and procedures pertaining to Business Banking transactions.
  • Skills in Financial Modelling; activity-based costing, financial analysis (evaluating and identifying trends), and complex cash flow cycles (industry/sector specific).
