This is a 5-year fixed-term contract position based at our Doornfontein Campus.

About the Role: Clinic Manager & Biokineticist

As a Biokineticist (P8) at UJ, you will primarily function as a Clinic Manager, playing a crucial role in patient care, clinic operations, and facilitating the teaching and learning of students. You will be based at the Doornfontein Biokinetics Clinic and Sport Science Lab, overseeing professional practical training for students undergoing work-integrated learning.

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

  • Provide professional biokinetics assessment and treatment to patients.
  • Administer and perform Vitality Fitness Assessments and other medical aid assessments.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the Doornfontein Biokinetic Clinic, adhering to professional guidelines.
  • Manage clinic staff and oversee general clinic administration.
  • Supervise and facilitate the work-integrated learning of Biokinetics students.
  • Assist academic staff with teaching activities and student assessments.
  • Contribute to departmental outreach and community engagement programmes.
  • Participate in campus health days and initiatives.
  • Continuously develop your skills and knowledge in the biokinetics field.

What You’ll Need (Minimum Requirements)

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A Degree or relevant qualification in Biokinetics (NQF Level 7) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of independent practice experience in Biokinetics.
  • Current and up-to-date registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA).
  • Valid and up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current and up-to-date registration with Discovery Vitality as an accredited provider.

  • Strong command of the Biokinetics discipline, including the latest knowledge and trends.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong work ethic and proactive approach to challenges.

Advantageous (Recommendations)

  • Currently enrolled in or possessing a Postgraduate (NQF Level 8) qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Having your own reliable transport.
