Associate Professor/ Professor (Permanent appointment) and Director (Contract appointment: 5 years, with the possibility of serving a second term): Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS)

The University of the Free State is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Associate Professor/ Professor and Director of the Institute for Groundwater Studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Presenting undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Geohydrology
• Conducting research in a relevant field and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
• Supervising postgraduate students at master’s and PhD levels
• Participating in leadership and administration at departmental and faculty levels

Inherent Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• A PhD in Geohydrology or a related field
• Proven experience in research and industry engagement
• An NRF rating of C3 or equivalent status
