

Associate Lecturer in Economics (Internal Only)

UWC’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Department of Economics is particularly focused on strengthening its teaching and research in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Quantitative Economics. We are especially interested in candidates with research experience in applying economic principles to policy formulation in South Africa and the wider African continent.
Role and Responsibilities
As an Associate Lecturer, your main duties will include:
- Facilitating learning and teaching for undergraduate students in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Quantitative Economics. This includes both traditional face-to-face classes and online/blended learning environments.
- Actively conducting research and publishing your findings.
- Supervising Honours level students in their research.
- Participating in community engagement and outreach initiatives.
- Handling academic administration tasks efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- An Honours degree in Economics.
Added Advantages
Candidates with the following will have a strong advantage:
- A Master’s degree in Economics.
- Demonstrated relevant tutoring, teaching, facilitation, or graduate assistance experience, particularly in at least one of these core sub-disciplines: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, or Quantitative Economics.
- Proficiency in data analysis software packages such as E-Views and Stata.
