Assistant Officer: Driver (post level 13) (Job ID: 6296) – (1976)

The University of the Free State (UFS) is looking for a dedicated Assistant Officer: Driver to join their Supply Chain Management team at the Qwaqwa Campus. This is a permanent, full-time position for a semi-skilled professional who is reliable and committed to safe transportation.

About the Role

As an Assistant Officer: Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable transport of students and guests for the Qwaqwa Campus. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Transporting students and guests safely and reliably.
  • Maintaining a positive image of UFS through excellent and safe driving habits.
  • Working occasional evenings and weekends as required.
  • Keeping university vehicles clean and well-maintained.
  • Handling administrative tasks related to departmental vehicles, including booking management.
  • Ensuring discipline among students while being transported.
  • Performing other ad-hoc duties as needed for the Qwaqwa Campus.

Who We Are Looking For (Requirements)

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or a National Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 4).
  • A valid Code C1 or EC1(14) driver’s license.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).

Recommended:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a professional driver.

Salary and Benefits

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, ranges from R 231,699.90 to R 388,426.59, depending on budget, relevant work experience, and qualifications. Fringe benefits include a pension scheme, medical aid scheme, group life insurance, housing allowance, leave, sick leave, service bonus, and study benefits (subject to specific conditions).

Assumption of Duties: 01 January 2026, or as soon as possible.
