Job Summary

The Department of Health is seeking a suitable candidate for the post of Assistant Director Medical Biological Science/ Assistant Director Reproductive Clinical Technology Grade 1 – 2 at Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Master of Science (NQF level 9) degree and registration with the Health Professional Council Of South Africa (HPCSA) in reproductive biology as a medical biological scientist.
• A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration at the HPCSA, including 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Alternatively, a B-Tech Degree (NQF Level 7) or Bachelor of Health Sciences (NQF Level 8) and registration with the HPCSA in Reproductive Biology as a Reproductive Clinical Technologist.
• Strong leadership, practical capabilities, and problem-solving skills in assisted reproduction techniques.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Assisting in the development and implementation of departmental goals.
• Managing the Assisted Reproduction program, including service delivery, guideline development, and risk management.
• Monitoring laboratory systems and process outcomes.
• Providing administrative support, including performance management and continuous education development.
