The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is looking for an experienced Analyst Programmer to join its Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department. In this role, you will be crucial in supporting UWC’s digital transformation strategy by developing and maintaining robust applications and solutions.

UWC’s Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department is central to delivering ICT services that empower the University’s strategic goals. This position is within the ICS Applications Development and Support unit, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

As an Analyst Programmer, you will report to the Team Lead of the Business Systems Unit and be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), with a focus on development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of applications and solutions.
  • Developing, maintaining, and providing support for both existing and new applications and solutions based on business requirements.
  • Ensuring that all solutions and enhancements adhere to established guidelines and best practices.
  • Estimating development and implementation efforts, and preparing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) as needed.
  • Providing first-line incident response and resolution, or escalating issues appropriately.

Who We’re Looking For (Requirements)

Minimum Requirements

  • Senior Certificate (NQF 4).
  • Relevant certifications in software development or related fields.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Software Developer, specifically working with Microsoft technologies, particularly .Net.
  • Demonstrable experience within a structured software development environment.

Advantageous Skills

While not strictly required, the following skills will be a strong advantage:

  • A relevant NQF 6 qualification.
  • Experience with iOS and Android mobile app development.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Proficiency in Power BI Reporting.
  • Experience with data modelling and cataloguing.
  • Familiarity with Angular, .Net Core, and .Net 6.0 technology stacks.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies.
