Who Can Apply?

You must be a South African citizen.
If you’re currently in Grade 12 or on a gap year: You need at least 60% in all your subjects, with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and either 70% in English First Additional Language or 65% in English Home Language.
If you’re currently in your first year of university: You should have an average of over 60% in your first semester exams. If you’re doing a STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), you need a minimum of 60% in each subject from your first semester.
You need to be aiming to study full-time towards an undergraduate university degree in one of the following fields:

Commerce (Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance)
B Com Informatics
B Sc Computer Science
B Sc Information Technology
Bachelor of Information Technology
Bachelor of Information Science
Business Science
Science and Mathematics
Engineering
Commercial LLB
MBCHB
Actuarial Science (Note: only first-year university students are considered, unless you’re doing a Business Science degree at UCT).

You can only apply if you are in Grade 12 (or on a gap year) or in your first year of university.
Make sure to clearly state the exact degree programme, the university you plan to attend, and your year of study when you apply. Changing your degree later could affect your bursary!
Sorry, no bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions.
