Hey future engineers! Are you passionate about Civil Engineering and looking for a way to fund your studies in South Africa? The Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) has an amazing opportunity for you!
The IMESA Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year is now open, designed to support talented students like you who need financial assistance to pursue their dreams. They even acknowledge the achievements of their members’ dependants – talk about community support!
Who Can Apply?
To be considered for the IMESA Bursary, you need to meet specific criteria, which fall under two main schemes:
Bursary Scheme A: For Non-IMESA Members

- You must be able to prove financial need (meaning you cannot afford your studies without bursary support).
Bursary Scheme B: For Dependents of IMESA Members
- You must be a child or dependent of an IMESA member who has held membership for a minimum of 5 years.

What Does It Cover?
The IMESA Bursary is designed to ease your financial burden, covering:
- Tuition fees and books, up to a maximum value of R50 000.
Beyond financial support, bursary recipients will also be appointed a mentor from IMESA, providing invaluable guidance throughout your studies. You’ll also be encouraged to participate in various IMESA activities, connecting you with industry professionals.
Bursary funding will be paid directly to your tertiary institution, typically within 60 days of IMESA receiving your student account statement.
