Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for these awesome opportunities, there’s one key thing: you MUST be a South African citizen. Beyond that, the academic requirements vary depending on which of Eskom’s 2025 programmes sparks your interest:
For the Learner Technician (Mechanical) Programme:
- You need a fully completed S4 / S5 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
For the Engineers in Training (EIT) Programme:
- You’ll need a fully completed Engineering Degree (BEng/BSc Eng) in one of these fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current & Light Current)
- Electronics
For the Learner Artisan Programme (Mechanical & Control and Instrumentation):
You need to meet ONE of the following qualification routes:
- A National N6 Certificate with relevant trade subjects (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics).
- A National N4/N5 Certificate with relevant trade subjects.
- A Grade 12 Certificate with:
- Maths 50%
- Physical Science 50%
- English 40%
- An N3 or NCV Level 4 Certificate with the same subject marks as listed for Grade 12.
