DFFE Bursary Programme 2026 – Closing Date: 3 October 2025 – Apply Now!

Hey future environmental leader! Are you dreaming of a career in Forestry, Fisheries, or the Environment, but worried about how you’ll fund your studies? Well, good news! The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is here to help South African students like you achieve those dreams with their awesome Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year!

This bursary is designed to support passionate young South Africans who are ready to make a real difference in protecting our natural resources. If you’re currently in Grade 12 or already a full-time student in a relevant field, this could be your golden ticket to getting your education funded and kick-starting your career in a vital sector. Plus, it comes with a mandatory internship, giving you real-world experience after you graduate – how cool is that?

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the DFFE Bursary Programme 2026, you need to meet a few key requirements:

  • You must be a full-time student currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning, OR you need to be in Grade 12 (Matric) and not currently employed.
  • If you’ve previously participated in a public service internship programme, unfortunately, you won’t be eligible for this bursary. (Remember, a mandatory internship is part of this bursary contract, and you can only do one public service internship!)
  • Make sure you clearly indicate the reference number and your chosen field of study on your application form.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered, so double-check everything!

What Does It Cover?

The DFFE Bursary Programme offers financial support to help cover your study expenses. The maximum amount you can receive through this bursary is R50,000.00. This can go a long way in easing the financial burden of tuition, books, and other study-related costs.
