  • The Women’s Empowerment Network of South Africa (WENOSA) has announced its postgraduate scholarships for 2025.
  • It is offering 15 scholarships valued at R50 000 each.
  • The scholarships are focused on female students in their final year of Honours, Master’s, or Doctorates.

If you’re a female South African student currently in their final year of postgraduate study, you may be interested in the latest set of scholarships being offered by the Women’s Empowerment Network of South Africa (WENOSA).

The organisation is offering 15 scholarships valued at R50 000 each to South African women, focusing on students in technology, engineering, economics, and scientific disciplines, which are said to be areas where women remain underrepresented, according to WENOSA.

“This scholarship programme represents a strategic investment in South Africa’s future by addressing gender imbalances in critical sectors. We recognise that increasing women’s participation in these fields is essential for both economic growth and social transformation,” added Sesethu Abrahams, operations officer at WENOSA, in a release shared with Hypertext.

“The programme will focus on candidates in traditionally male-dominated fields while also considering applicants in gender studies and related disciplines that contribute to advancing gender equality,” WENOSA continued.

It goes on to explain that the R50 000 scholarship covers tuition and study materials for recipients. It also outlined several eligibility requirements, which include: 

  • South African citizenship,
  • Minimum academic average of 65 percent,
  • Enrollment in final year of postgraduate studies at a recognised South African institution, 
  • Financial need consideration, with priority for students from households earning R350 000 or less annually.

Applications are open right now, with submissions needing to be sent through by 9th June 2025 through the WENOSA Forms Portal.

After a thorough review process, selected candidates will receive a notification by 30th July 2025. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to educational institutions throughout the academic year.
