Scholarship Description:

The NL Scholarship is a financial award funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. It is intended for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the Netherlands.

    The application deadline for the NL Scholarship is usually in February.

    • The scholarship is renewable for one additional year, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

      Scholarship Benefits:

      The available scholarship amounts are €5,000, €10,000 and €15,000. You will receive the scholarship amount in the first year of your studies, even if you are enrolled in a two-year programme.

      Eligible Nationalities:

      International Students with non EU/EEA Passports can apply for this scholarship.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      In order to qualify for an NL Scholarship, you must satisfy the following conditions:

      1. You should not possess an EU/EEA passport and should not be eligible for financial assistance through the Dutch study grant and loan system.

      2. You must have never been previously enrolled in any educational institution in the Netherlands. It’s worth noting that participating in an exchange program in the Netherlands does not disqualify you.

      3. You must have submitted an application for an international master’s program at Utrecht University, and this program must commence on 1st September 2023. It’s important to be aware that not all master’s programs are part of this scholarship opportunity. To confirm if the NL Scholarship is available for the specific master’s program you’re interested in, please refer to the ‘Tuition fees and financial support’ section on the program’s webpage.

      Application Procedure:

      After submitting an application (or applications) for an HS-eligible master’s programme before the stated deadline, non-EU/EEA students will have the option of submitting an application for the NL Scholarship.

      You will see the HS application(s) in your OSIRIS Online Application account dashboard. Click view/edit for the HS linked to the programme (related process) you wish to apply for, answer the questions and upload the requested documents.
