Distinguished Scholar Awards
- Open to students with high academic achievement in high school
- Consideration for those not meeting First-Year Presidential Scholarship requirements
- Award ranges from $15,000 to $20,000
- Guaranteed for the first year and renewable annually
- Renewable for up to a maximum of ten semesters
- Applied only to tuition costs
Charger Award
- Presented to students with strong and consistent academic performance
- Option for those who do not qualify for Presidential and Distinguished Scholarships
- Award ranges from $10,000 to $14,000
- Guaranteed for the first year and renewable annually
- Renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters
- Applied exclusively to tuition costs
Transfer Scholar Award
- The Transfer Scholar Award caters to full-time students making the transition from another college or university.
- Eligibility requires completion of 12 credit hours at the transferring institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Scholarship amounts, ranging from $12,000 to $24,000, vary based on the student’s GPA.
- If a transferring student exhibits academic excellence with fewer than 12 credit hours completed, they will be assessed for a scholarship akin to First-Year academic scholarships.
- Renewable annually, the Transfer Scholar Award necessitates full-time undergraduate status and satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree.
Honors Scholarship
- The Honors Scholarship, accessible to all students, involves an invitation-based application process with supplemental documentation.
- Successful applicants will receive notification, and the scholarship, totaling $1,000, is an additional benefit to any merit-based scholarship awarded.
- Renewable through adherence to the University’s Honors Program requirements, the Honors Scholarship enhances the educational journey for all deserving students.

To be considered for one of our academic scholarships, all you need to do is apply for full-time undergraduate admission. If accepted, you will automatically be considered for an academic scholarship.

- To be considered for one of our academic scholarships, all you need to do is apply for full-time undergraduate admission. If accepted, you will automatically be considered for an academic scholarship.
- Award decisions will be based upon your academic credentials at the time of your admissions decision.
- Students must have a completed application for admission on file by May 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester in order to be considered for an academic scholarship.
- Awards are based upon the availability of funds.
- The scholarships are partial merit scholarships and the student must have met our English language proficiency requirement.
The following are awarded at the discretion of the University of New Haven and, unless otherwise noted, require no special application. Students who qualify for these scholarships will be notified by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the time of their acceptance to the University.
