Thompson Rivers University’s flagship fundraising event is back for its 31st year to raise cash for student bursaries and scholarships.
And the TRU Foundation is trying something new for this year’s gala — the first-annual Winter’s Ball.
The foundation’s gala has raised more than $1 million since 1993 through the TRU Foundation Open Awards. TRU said the foundation awarded $2.1 million in donor funds to nearly 1,000 students in 2023-24.
This year’s gala will raise funds through a silent auction, prize raffle, 50/50 and a Fund-A-Need live auction. More than 300 guests are expected to attend.
The event is sold out, but raffle tickets are available starting on Tuesday.
The gala will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, with the raffle and 50/50 continuing the following day.
Last year’s gala raised $250,000.
