Bursary Description

Siza Water invites South African student to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 13 December 2024

Fields of Study Funded

The bursary is open to students pursuing qualifications in:

  • Engineering: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical.
  • Environmental Management
  • Financial Management
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Trades: Electrician, Fitters, Millwright, and Plumbing.
  • Water & Sewer Treatment Process Controller

Coverage and Duration

The bursary provides:

  • Full coverage for tuition fees and prescribed textbooks.
  • Funding for up to three years, provided students pass all subjects annually.

Note: Students must reapply each year with their academic results.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a South African citizen.
  2. Reside in the Siza Water concession area in KwaZulu-Natal.
  3. Be in Matric or have completed it.
  4. Be studying or intending to study full-time in one of the listed fields.
  5. Be registered or accepted at a recognised institution in South Africa.
  6. Achieve a minimum average of 65% for studies and 65% for the subject to be studied.
  7. Have a household income of not more than R15 000 per month.
  8. Preference is given to historically disadvantaged groups, especially female and Black students (African, Coloured, Indian).

How to Apply

  1. Download the Siza Water Bursary Application Form (PDF).
  2. Alternatively, collect a hard copy from:
    • Siza Water Ballito Office: Rey Park House, Rey’s Place, Ballito, Durban.
    • Siza Water Shakaskraal Office: Shop 3, Ushaka Square, Old Main Road, Shakaskraal.

Submit the Following Documents (certified copies):

  • South African ID document.
  • Grade 11 final results, Matric results, or certificate.
  • Most recent academic transcript, if applicable.
  • Proof of tertiary acceptance for 2025.
  • Proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, or grant documents).
  • Statement of household income and expenses.
  • Death certificate (if parents/guardians are deceased).
  • Divorce certificate (if applicable).
  • Proof of disability (if applicable).
  • Original signed proof of residence from the Local Ward Councillor.
