Merit Awards for First-Year International Students
- New full-time Seattle University freshmen who are international students will be considered for a merit scholarship award at the time of their admission.
- Scholarship recipients must meet all university requirements for regular admission to the fall, winter, or spring quarter.
- International students are those students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents and typically require a visa to study in the United States.
Merit Scholarships for Transfer Students
Transfer students who complete an admissions application to Seattle University are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships, which typically start at $8,000. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years and are based on the information in the admissions application, not family finances. And we guarantee that any amount you receive as an institutional gift will remain constant for the duration of your degree.

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for the Seattle University Scholarships, applicants need to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
- Eligible Countries: Open to students from all countries around the world.
- For undergraduate applicants, a U.S. grade-point average equivalent to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- Submission of official, certified English language translations for all transcripts from previous educational institutions is mandatory.
- Applicants, regardless of their length of residency in the U.S., citizenship, or immigration status, must demonstrate English proficiency if their native language is not English.
- It’s worth noting that Seattle University does not mandate the submission of ACT or SAT scores for international freshman applicants, although presenting these scores can bolster your application.
