The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened applications for the 2025 Semester 2 intake at TVET Colleges. If you’re a South African citizen or permanent resident eager to further your education but lack financial support—this is your chance to apply!

Who Qualifies for the NSFAS Bursary?
To qualify for the NSFAS bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
- Have a combined household income of R350,000 or less per annum
- If living with a disability, the combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum
Note: NSFAS does not fund students studying at private colleges or universities.
What Does the NSFAS Bursary Cover?
The bursary funding for eligible TVET students covers:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Learning materials
- Living allowance
- Personal care allowance
- Accommodation (for students who live far from campus) or transport allowance
Living/personal and transport allowances are not covered under the NSFAS Student Loan.
Who Qualifies for the NSFAS Student Loan?
If your combined household income is between R350,001 and R600,000 per annum, you can apply for the NSFAS Student Loan.
This loan funding covers:
- Learning materials
- Accommodation or transport
Note: This is a loan scheme and must be repaid.

- Create your myNSFAS profile
- Complete all required fields accurately
- Submit your application with supporting documents
Who Should Not Apply?
You should not apply if:
- You already receive 100% funding from another bursary
- You want to study for a second undergraduate qualification
- You have a previous certificate and want to apply for a second
- You’re studying at a private institution
- Your qualification is not DHET- or SAQA-accredited
Required Supporting Documents
When submitting your application, you may be asked to upload the following:
- NSFAS Consent Form
- NSFAS Declaration Form (for applicants under 35)
- Disability Annexure Form (with a medical report)
- Orphan or Vulnerable Child Declaration Form (for applicants under 18)
- Certified ID copy
- Latest academic results
- Proof of household income
- Proof of residence
- Acceptance letter from a public institution
