Makurdi/Guma Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme

The House of Representatives member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Dist Rt Hon Dickson Tarkighir OON, has once again launched his scholarship program to support students within his constituency.

This initiative, according to him, is aimed at empowering youth through education, enhancing the educational system, and driving community development.

Rt Hon Dickson Tarkighir said, “The scholarship program fulfills my long-held desire to encourage the pursuit of education in my constituency.”

In the 2024/2025 academic session, which marked the maiden edition, the scholarship was awarded to 250 students across the 21 council wards of Makurdi and Guma Local Government Areas. This move contributed to the educational development of the region and improved access to learning opportunities.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the federal lawmaker has increased the number of beneficiaries to 500 students. The program is a clear expression of his continued commitment to student welfare and youth empowerment. It also serves as a major investment in the human capital of the constituency, ensuring that more young people have the chance to pursue education and access better job opportunities in the future.

“This is the only genuine and consistent students financial aid scheme at the moment as far as Makurdi/Guma is concerned,” a community observer noted.
