Scholarship Description:

The Harrison Middleton University Fellowship in Ideas welcomes international students worldwide who wish to pursue studies at Harrison Middleton University in the United States. This fellowship program focuses on writing and intellectual discussions in the humanities and is designed for recent university graduates with interests in any humanities field. It promotes interdisciplinary dialogue and offers intellectual and professional enrichment.

The fellowship offers emerging scholars the opportunity to delve into the concepts of Western civilization, connect with a diverse range of academics, lifelong learners, readers, and thinkers from various fields, and gain authorship credits in two university journals. With the exception of conference participation, all fellowship tasks can be completed from any location with suitable telephone and internet access.

Scholarship Benefits:

The chosen recipient of the HMU Fellowship in Ideas will receive the following advantages:

  1. A $500 financial grant.

  2. The chance to engage in virtual Socratic conversations with faculty members from the university and other fellows.

  3. The opportunity for their work to be published online in both the HMU Blog and HMU: Dialogues.

  4. Upon completion of the fellowship term, a complimentary collection of three publications from the Great Books Foundation.

Eligible Nationalities:

This fellowship is open to international students.

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligible candidate is required to meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in any academic discipline.

  2. Possess a genuine interest in the humanities and the profound ideas of Western civilization.

  3. Exhibit exceptional skills in reading, writing, and effective communication.

  4. Make a commitment to produce two blog entries for the HMU Blog and contribute one book review for HMU: Dialogues.

Application Procedure:

Please provide the following:

  • A completed application form.
  • A biographical statement of no more than 500 words that addresses your background as a student, your interest in the humanities, and your interest in the HMU Fellowship in Ideas.
  • An appropriately cited expository essay of no more than 1500 words plus a works cited page, applying your interest to a great idea in the humanities related to one of these concentrations: imaginative literature, natural science, philosophy and religion, and social science. While we encourage the use of technology and tools to enhance your writing, we ask that you exercise academic integrity and creativity in your work. Your submissions should reflect your own original thoughts, analysis, and insights.
