Are you passionate about engineering and ready to take your academic journey to the next level? Glencore Coal South Africa is inviting talented and motivated individuals to apply for its 2026 Bursary Programme.
This bursary opportunity is open to first-year students entering university as well as current undergraduate students in their 2nd or 3rd year of study.

The bursary supports students pursuing qualifications in the following high-demand engineering disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
Who Can Apply? Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Glencore Coal SA Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
For Matriculants (First-Year University Students):
- Must have completed Grade 12
- Achieved at least a Level 6 (70–79%) in Mathematics and Physical Science for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
- Achieved at least a Level 5 (60–69%) in Mathematics and Physical Science for Mining and Metallurgical Engineering
- Must meet university admission requirements for the intended programme
For Current University Students:
- Must be currently enrolled in a 2nd or 3rd year of study in one of the listed engineering fields
- Maintain an average academic mark of 60% or higher
- Submit the latest academic transcript from a recognised university
Additional Requirements:
- Must submit a CV, Grade 12 certificate, or latest university results
- Proof of residence is required – preference will be given to students from local communities near Glencore Coal operations
- Applicants already receiving funding from another organisation will not be considered
- Final selection will align with Glencore’s Employment Equity and future skills development plans
- Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo assessments and interviews
