Bursary Description

Mayo County Council Arts Service has announced that Friday, February 14th, will be the deadline for its annual grants and bursaries for 2025.

The following grants and bursaries are currently open for applications:

Arts Act grants

The Arts Act permits a local authority to assist with money, or in kind, events or activities which would, in the opinion of the local authority, stimulate public interest in the arts, promote knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts or improve the standards of the arts within its functional area.

The scheme is open to groups, organisations and festivals in the county seeking support toward the cost of arts events, projects and activities. Applications from individuals are not eligible for funding.

Mayo Artist Bursary

The Artist Bursary Award aims to support the work of professional artists, working in any art form, at all stages of their career, currently resident in Mayo.

Tyrone Guthrie Bursary

Mayo County Council is offering four bursaries to artists living and working in Mayo, to enable them to spend one week at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. The centre has a variety of workspaces including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, and a large rehearsal and performance space. Applicants should show significant achievement in their chosen field or demonstrate a high degree of promise. This bursary is open to practitioners in all art forms.

UPSTART grants

UPSTART is an initiative of Mayo County Council’s Arts Service which aims to incentivise quality artistic collaborations between groups and people with disabilities, artists, arts venues and organisations within County Mayo. The award supports opportunities for people with disabilities to develop arts projects in celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is December 3rd. Please note Damien O’Connor is currently on leave.

Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary

Two awards will be allocated to groups who demonstrate innovation, quality and creativity in their work. To be eligible, groups must have put on a production in 2024 and be keen to improve the amateur drama sector in their local area. Please note, one individual from per group may attend the summer school.

Detailed guidelines for applicants and application forms are available on www.mayo.ie.

The closing date for applications is Friday, February 14th, at 5pm.
