500 young africans looking for a higher education will be able to benefit from a new scholarship programme launched by Binance, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges.
In an announcement sent to Hypertext, Binance explained that it has struck a partnership with AltSchool Africa – a fully virtual higher education institution operating across the continent – to support 500 young people through full tech scholarships.
“This collaboration is aimed at addressing the digital skills gap in Africa by offering access to specialised education in fields such as software engineering, cybersecurity, sales and content creation, empowering learners with skills that are essential in today’s rapidly evolving job market,” the exchange explains.
The scholarships will kick off in January 2025 to 31th December, so for the entire year 500 young Africans will be able to take part in courses at AltSchool Africa.
“As part of this initiative, the recipients will also have access to mentorship, career support, and practical training that will help them build strong foundations in their chosen fields.”
There are some restrictions, however, and only people from Sub-Saharan African countries can apply.
They must also complete an identity verification process using Binance’s systems to be eligible for the scholarship. There is also an aptitude test that must be completed before a candidate is chosen for a scholarship.

We’re happy to see there are cybersecurity courses, as well as other important digital and marketing qualifications up for grabs, with the longest qualification taking one year, and the shortest six weeks for courses like”content creation” and “sales.”
“With this partnership, we are able to reach more young Africans passionate about building a career in the digital economy, offering them a variety of our diploma programs and short courses,” said Nifemi Akinwamide, head of Global Operations, AltSchool Africa.
