The Eastern Cape DRDAR (Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform) invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2025.

The DRDAR (Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform) Bursary Programme offers financial support for students pursuing degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Bio-Resource Engineering. Below are the key details of the bursary:

Expenses Covered:
The bursary will cover:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation and meals
Obligations:
- Bursary recipients are required to work for the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) for a period equivalent to their funded study time. This is part of their contractual obligation.
- The bursary will NOT cover any outstanding student debt.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- South African citizenship.
- Unemployed status.
- Completion of Grade 12/Matric/NCV with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Must be studying or intending to study in one of the eligible fields (Agricultural Engineering or Bio-Resource Engineering).
- Youth with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- Must be studying at or accepted by a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Household income must not exceed:
- R350 000 per annum (for general applicants),
- R600 000 per annum (for applicants with disabilities).
- Preference will be given to unemployed youth from the Eastern Cape, although students from other provinces are also welcome to apply.
Required Documents:
The following documents must be submitted along with the completed application:
- Certified copy of ID document.
- Matric certificate or latest matric results (certified copy).
- Full academic record (if currently studying).
- Proof of admission or provisional admission from a registered higher education institution.
- Proof of residence (less than 3 months old).
- Parent/guardian ID documents.
- Proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, proof of pension or grant if applicable).
- Details of any other bursaries or sponsorships currently received (if applicable).
