Hortgro invites South African students to apply for its Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:
- Agri-Management
- Agricultural Biotechnology
- Agricultural Economics
- Agricultural Science
- Entomology
- Horticulture (Production/Post-Harvest)
- Marketing Specialist
- Microbiology
- Plant Pathology
- Project Management
- Soil and Water Science
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric, or currently be in Matric
- Be studying or intend to study in one of the above-listed fields in 2026
- Be enrolled at or applying to a recognised South African tertiary institution
- Meet admission requirements for the chosen qualification
What the Bursary Covers and Expects
- Renewable annually based on academic performance
- Mentorship support will be provided
- Recipients must:
- Submit quarterly study and well-being updates
- Provide semester results
- Maintain good conduct
- Attend Hortgro functions
Required Supporting Documents (if shortlisted)
- Certified ID or both sides of your ID card
- Certified copy of Matric certificate or latest results
- Certified academic transcript (if already at tertiary level)
- Proof of tertiary registration
- Estimated study cost breakdown (tuition, books, accommodation)
- Certified IDs of parents/guardians
- Proof of parents/guardians’ income (payslips or affidavit)
- Proof of any other financial aid (if applicable)
- Essay: about yourself, your career plans, and your vision in agriculture (handwritten in the application)
- 2 contactable references
