Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) invites students to apply for Bursary Programme for 2026 academic year.

The Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) is offering 117 bursary opportunities for South African youth in the aviation sector through its prestigious Air Traffic Services (ATS) Bursary Programme 2026.

This is your chance to gain high-quality training at the ATNS Aviation Training Academy in Bonaero Park, Gauteng, and kickstart your career in the dynamic field of aviation!


What Does the ATNS Bursary Cover?

The programme offers extensive theoretical and practical training in air traffic management. Successful bursars will be placed according to operational needs after training completion. There are four bursary intakes planned for the 2025/26 financial year.


Available Air Traffic Services Bursary Streams

You can apply for one of the following exciting roles:

  1. Air Traffic Services Officer (ATSO)
  2. Aeronautical Information Management Officer (AIMO)
  3. Target Generating Officer (TGO)
  4. Airport Management Centre (AMC) Liaison Officer
  5. Simulator Support Officer (SSO)

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the ATNS ATS Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric Certificate with:
    • Pure Mathematics: Level 4 / HG D or SG C and above
    • English: Level 4 / HG D or SG C and above
  • Attach your Grade 12 results to your application
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
  • Be medically fit and willing to undergo medical assessment (for ATSO stream)
  • Be unemployed and aged as part of the South African youth
  • Be willing to relocate anywhere in South Africa
  • Note: Applicants previously enrolled in an ATNS programme will not be considered
