This isn’t just any bursary; it’s a fully-funded fellowship programme designed for inspiring social-change leaders from around the globe. Based at the prestigious International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), this programme empowers you with the knowledge, skills, and network to challenge and transform social and economic inequalities.
Whether you’re a policymaker, activist, researcher, artist, or community organiser, if you’re dedicated to creating a more equitable world, this programme could be your next big step!
Who Can Apply?
This fellowship is for mid-career social-change leaders with a proven track record. To be eligible, you generally need:
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience showing courage, leadership, and commitment in advancing equitable solutions to inequality.
- English Language: You must meet LSE’s standard English Language Requirements.
For Residential Fellows (MSc at LSE):
- You must qualify for admission to the London School of Economics’ MSc in Inequalities and Social Science. This typically requires a 2:1 degree or equivalent in any discipline. While advantageous, a social science background isn’t essential.
- Important Note: If you’ve recently completed a PhD, an MSc within the past three years, or are currently studying for a degree, you typically won’t be considered for the Residential track.
For Non-Residential Fellows (Flexible Learning):
- This track is more flexible! We welcome applications from those with or without an undergraduate degree (2:2 and above for degree holders).
- It’s also open to applicants who already hold postgraduate degrees.
- Important Note: If you’re currently enrolled in a degree programme, you won’t be considered unless your course of study finishes before the Fellowship year starts in September.
What Does It Cover?

- Travel & Visa Costs: All your travel to and from London, plus visa and immigration-related expenses, are taken care of.
- Living Stipend: You’ll receive a generous £23,000 stipend to cover your living costs while in London.
Even better, after completing your active fellowship year, you’ll join a vibrant, lifelong community of Senior Fellows from all seven Atlantic Fellows programmes worldwide. This means ongoing support, networking opportunities, and collaboration to amplify your impact!
Non-Residential Fellows also benefit from in-person modules and undertake a project designed to tackle inequalities, applying their learning directly to their social-change agendas.
