Applications for Allan Gray fellowship is now open


High-achieving matric pupils who will be entering university next year can now apply for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s University Fellowship Programme.

Acceptance of applications will close on April 30 at 5pm.

In addition to providing financial support for university students, the fellowship offers mentorship opportunities to bolster entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

In order to be a suitable candidate for the fellowship one would need to have South African citizenship, must be under the age of 21 when applying, and have a minimum of 60% in core mathematics or 80% in mathematical literacy in their final grade 11 results.

Additionally, the applicant would need to have obtained a minimum average of 70% (excluding life orientation) in their final grade 11 report.

The applicant would also want to study in the following fields: commerce, science, engineering, law, humanities, arts, or health sciences. Medicine, veterinary science, and dentistry are not covered by the fellowship.

Partner universities include the University of the Witwatersrand; the University of Johannesburg; the University of Cape Town; Nelson Mandela University; Rhodes University, the University of the Western Cape; Stellenbosch University; the University of Pretoria; the University of the Free State; the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Tsiba Business School.
