This isn’t just a bursary; it’s your exclusive ticket to cutting-edge training in digital forensics, OSINT tools, AI, and data verification, all taught by the globally renowned Bellingcat team. Imagine enhancing your investigative techniques right here in South Africa, at Wits University in Johannesburg. This intensive masterclass runs for three days immediately before the main AIJC conference, giving you a comprehensive experience!
Who Can Apply?
This bursary is specifically designed for experienced investigative journalists, editors, and trainers from African countries. To be eligible, you need to:
- Be an experienced investigative journalist, editor, or trainer from an African country, with a strong track record of recent work.
- Have a valid passport.
- Be able to arrange your own visa if required.
- Be available to travel for the masterclass and conference, generally from 31 October/1 November to 8/9/10 November 2025.
While the masterclass attendance is fully covered, successful applicants can also apply for additional support to help with travel and accommodation costs (please note: this excludes home-country transport, insurance, visas, personal in-country transport, or hotel incidentals).
What Does It Cover?
The AIJC Investigative Journalism Masterclass Bursary is comprehensive, covering:
- Full attendance to the intensive 3-day Masterclass on digital forensics, OSINT tools, AI, and data verification, led by the Bellingcat team (running from Sunday 2 to Tuesday 4 November 2025).
- Full attendance to the main AIJC conference and all its engaging training sessions (scheduled for 5 to 7 November 2025).
