Who Can Apply?

Think you’ve got what it takes to be an AGSA bursary recipient? Check out the requirements:

  • You need to be a South African citizen.
  • Currently in Matric (Grade 12) or already completed Matric.
  • Planning to study full-time for a Chartered Accountancy qualification at a SAICA-accredited university. We’re talking qualifications like BCom Accounting (CA stream), Bachelor of Accounting (CA stream), or BCompt.

Academic Requirements:

Your grades are important, so make sure you meet these:

  • If you’re applying for your 1st year in 2026 (currently in Matric):
    • You’ll need Matric exemption with university entrance.
    • A minimum of 60% in Mathematics (sorry, no Maths Literacy here!)
    • A minimum of 60% in English.
  • If you’re a 1st-year student applying for your 2nd year in 2026:
    • A minimum of 60% in Financial Accounting.
    • Remember, those Matric Mathematics and English scores (minimum 60%) still count!
  • If you’re a 2nd-year student applying for your 3rd year in 2026:
    • You’ll need a minimum of 60% in both Financial Accounting AND Management Accounting.
  • If you’re a Final Year student applying for postgraduate studies in 2026:
    • A minimum of 55% in all your core modules.
    • You must have acceptance for your CTA (Certificate in Theory of Accountancy) programme.

Beyond the grades, AGSA is looking for individuals who are fluent in English, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and show leadership potential with a good dose of determination!
