Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for this game-changing program, you need to meet a few key requirements:
- You must be a citizen of an AfDB member country.
- You need to be 32 years of age or younger by 30 November 2025.
- You should hold a Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to the Bank’s work, with outstanding academic results.
- You must have at least 3 years of post-graduate work experience in areas related to the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy and Four Cardinal Points.
- Having hands-on experience on the African continent or in other developing regions is a big plus.
- A strong passion for Africa’s development is essential!
- You should be able to leverage knowledge, share with others, coach, and work effectively in diverse teams.
- Key skills include teamwork, negotiation, client orientation, communication, strategic perspective, leadership, and project management.
- You’ll need strong analytical and reporting skills, an entrepreneurial drive, results-orientation, and problem-solving capability.
- High business acumen and an innovative mindset are highly valued.
- You must be able to communicate effectively (both written and oral) in English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language being a bonus.

- You must be willing to work and live in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (the Bank’s Headquarters) or any other country where the Bank may require your services.

- Rotation Opportunities: You’ll get to rotate through three different complexes within the Bank. Your first placement will align with your skills, followed by two other rotations, which might include working in a Country or Regional Office. These rotations are designed for you to demonstrate applied knowledge, stretch your abilities, learn, and transition smoothly into a permanent role.
- Capacity Development: Get ready for a top-notch Professional and Personal Development Program structured under the Young Professionals Learning Faculty. This includes specific learning interventions delivered in phases, deepening your technical knowledge and building leadership skills. Think onboard training, customized postgraduate programs, the Bank’s Operations Academy, international certifications, and extensive on-the-job training.
- Mentorship and Coaching: You won’t be alone on this journey! Robust mentorship and coaching programs, including support from mentors, coaches, and buddy groups, ensure you integrate quickly into the Bank’s culture.
- Graduation and Integration: Successfully complete the YP Learning Faculty, your three mandatory rotations, the mentoring program, exhibit high performance, and show great potential (with no ethics-related issues), and you’ll automatically be integrated into the Bank’s workforce at a PL5 grade level!
