• You must be a young African residing in Africa, not exceeding 32 years old.
• You should have relevant academic qualifications, preferably in areas like economics (especially energy economics!), engineering (petroleum/electrical), oil and gas management, public policy, law, political economy, development studies, development finance, project management, communications, statistics, or mathematics. Basically, if you’re into the big picture of resources and development, you’re in!
• Got great writing skills? Can you express complex ideas clearly and logically? That’s a huge plus!
• Are you comfortable with analytical tools like R, Stata, Eviews, NVivo, or Atlas.ti? Show off those skills!
• You’ll need to be a multitasking pro, able to prioritize and hit deadlines.
• Being a team player with good interpersonal skills is essential.
• If you’re a creative thinker who takes initiative and responsibility, you’re exactly who they’re looking for.
• Demonstrate strong leadership potential.

Here’s what you need to prepare:

1. Curriculum Vitae (CV): List your most recent experiences and achievements first.
2. Higher Education Degree Certificates: Only submit copies of certificates for your completed Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degrees. Leave out high school certificates or diplomas.
3. Motivational Statement: Write a statement (maximum 500 words) explaining why you’re applying, your goals, and how your background aligns with the program.
4. Reference Letter: Get a current written reference from a university lecturer, a former employer, or another professional (no family members, please!).
5. Essay Response: Choose ONE of the two provided essay questions and write your response (maximum 500 words, excluding bibliography). Important: They strongly discourage using ChatGPT or other AI assistance, and copying content without proper attribution is a big no-no. Remember to include your full name and the question number at the top of your essay.
