The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join their Faculty of Law as the Head of Faculty Administration. This is a crucial leadership role within the Dean’s Office, responsible for overseeing all administrative functions and ensuring efficient support for the faculty’s strategic goals.

Job Overview

As the Head of Faculty Administration for the Faculty of Law, you will be a key member of the Dean’s Office, providing strategic leadership and management for all administrative support resources. This is a permanent, management-level position based at the Auckland Park Kingsway Campus. This is an Employment Equity (EE) position.

Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)

  • Lead and manage an efficient, client-focused Faculty Administration team.
  • Drive the strategic development of support resources for the faculty.
  • Communicate and monitor the progress of the faculty’s strategic plan.
  • Support the development of policies that align with the strategic plan.
  • Participate actively in the Executive Dean’s Committee.
  • Act as the faculty Secretary, ensuring compliance of the faculty Committee structure with university quality assurance procedures.
  • Plan and manage all academic administration activities related to the entire student lifecycle (undergraduate and postgraduate).
  • Facilitate and manage enrolment planning and student admission processes.
  • Ensure a positive student experience during all interactions with faculty and Academic Administration.

Minimum Requirements (What You Need)

  • A Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9) or equivalent.
  • Four (4) to five (5) years of experience in a managerial position.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Strong computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Solid knowledge of Faculty rules and regulations, as well as UJ policies and processes.
  • Understanding of general business processes.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
  • Experience with ITS, MAMS, and HEMIS systems.

  • Proficiency in at least three other African languages.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and institutional finances for optimal effectiveness.
