

Technical Assistant II (P12) (Facilities Management: UJ Island) (Re-advert)
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is seeking a Technical Assistant II to join its Facilities Management team at the UJ Island.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will assist in the planning and scheduling of the installation, care, and repair of facilities and equipment, ensuring maximum efficiency and output.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and scheduling of installation, care, and repair of facilities and equipment
- Perform routine facility and equipment maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities
- Assist in monitoring and repair of facility systems and technical devices
- Participate in preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex equipment
- Maintain service and repair records
- Create detailed technical specifications and documentation
- Develop and configure workstations as required
- Perform daily inspections of assigned buildings and spaces
- Follow the Facilities Work Request System
- Complete documentation for work performed in a timely manner
- Oversee and perform duties associated with events
Minimum Requirements
- Grade12 (NQF4)
- 3 years’ experience in the field, including hospitality environment
- Valid Code10 driver’s license with PDP for people and goods
- Valid boat driver’s license (Skipper license)
- Certificate in Plumbing, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering
