Forensic Investigator (Insurance)

Capitec Bank is looking for a driven and self-motivated Forensic Investigator to join their team in Bellville, Western Cape. If you have a passion for service in the banking industry and a keen eye for detail, this opportunity is for you.

About the Role

As a Forensic Investigator, reporting to the Manager: Insurance Fraud, you will play a crucial role in investigating various fraud incidents across Capitec Bank and Capitec Insurance. This includes external fraud (like credit application fraud) and internal fraud, serious policy breaches, and criminal syndicates. Your responsibilities will involve:

• Thoroughly investigating cases and the parties involved.
• Gathering appropriate evidence for disciplinary hearings and/or criminal proceedings.
• Identifying control weaknesses and recommending preventative measures.
• Suggesting improvements and training initiatives to combat potential fraud.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience as a Forensic Investigator or Auditor.
• A background in funeral investigations or relevant qualifications (e.g., CFE, Criminology, Forensic Law, Auditing).
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency in multiple South African languages (e.g., English, Afrikaans, Sepedi, IsiZulu, isiXhosa) is an advantage.

Qualifications:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Forensics.

Knowledge:

• Solid understanding of investigation methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of Criminal Law and the Law of Evidence within the judicial process.

Skills:

• Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong decision-making abilities.
• Negotiation and presentation skills.
• Effective reporting skills.

Ideal Candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Forensic Investigator/Auditor within the Financial Services Sector.
• Knowledge of fraud and misrepresentation specifically in the insurance industry.
