What You’ll Do (Purpose Statement)

As a Specialist in Information and Technology Risk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring Capitec Bank’s digital security and operational integrity. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Providing independent oversight, advice, and support to the business in identifying, evaluating, assessing, and treating information and technology-related risks.
  • Improving risk awareness and strengthening our risk culture by critically reviewing and challenging management’s existing information and technology risk management practices.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT Risk Management and/or Internal/External IT Auditing.
  • Proven experience in a governance and oversight capacity (e.g., IT Governance, IT Audit, or Information Security).
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Cyber and IT Security best practices and principles.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Risk and Compliance or Commerce.

Knowledge:

  • Experience applying or basic understanding of relevant risk methodologies and IT/Cyber Security control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISF, ISO, NIST, ITIL, COSO, DAMA, DM-BOK).
  • Experience in performing risk and control assessments.
  • Experience in information risk management and IT risk management, including information security.
  • General business acumen.
  • Understanding of IT/Cyber Security and Cloud Computing.

Skills:

  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
  • Strong Attention to Detail.
  • Interpersonal & Relationship Management Skills.
  • Influencing Skills.
  • Analytical Skills.

Advantageous (Ideal or Preferred)

Experience:

  • Banking industry experience and knowledge.
  • Experience in data privacy and related compliance (e.g., RDARR, DAMA, GDPR).
  • Prior experience in a Cyber or IT Security role (e.g., ISO role, cyber security role, IT auditor with IT Security specialization).
  • More than 5 years of specialist experience within risk and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • An Honours Degree in Risk and Compliance or Commerce.

Knowledge:

  • Banking industry experience and knowledge, including BCBS-239 (RDARR principles).
  • Experience in Information Technology Audit and Continuous Auditing techniques.
  • Understanding of Data Management practices.
  • Knowledge of leading practices and regulatory requirements.

Conditions of Employment

  • A clear criminal and credit record is required.
  • You must have a valid driver’s license and your own reliable vehicle.
