Eligible Nationalities:

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Candidates must hold citizenship in a nation other than the People’s Republic of China and should be in sound health.

  2. Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

    • For master’s program applications, they should hold a bachelor’s degree and be below the age of 35.
    • For doctoral program applications, they should possess a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
  3. For programs taught in Chinese, candidates must successfully pass the HSK4 language proficiency test.

  4. Applicants should participate in an interview as arranged by their potential academic advisors or supervisors.

  2. Select Type B, use CUG agency code 10491.
  3. Complete the online application form and submit required documents on the CSC website (hard copies not accepted).

Application Documents:

  1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).
  2. Copy of Passport Home Page (valid until September 2024).
  3. Notarized highest diploma with proof of student status (if applicable).
  4. Academic transcripts with English translations (if not in Chinese or English).
  5. Language qualification certificates (HSK for Chinese-taught, TOEFL/IELTS for English-taught).
  6. 1,000+ character study plan (academic background, research, reasons for studying in China).
  7. Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English.
  8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (completed in English).
  9. Non-criminal record report (issued within 6 months).
  10. Fresh graduates in China: residence permit copy and proof of school performance.
  11. Applicants under 18: legal guardians’ documents in China.
  12. Additional documents (if applicable).

Language Requirements:

  1. HSK4 required for Chinese-taught programs.
  2. TOEFL (80 or above) or IELTS (6.0 or above) for English-taught programs. Proof of English instruction for previous degrees required if no standardized English test.
  3. Native English speakers exempt from English proficiency proof.
