Are you an organised and detail-oriented administrator with a passion for student support? The University of the Free State (UFS) is looking for a dedicated Off-Campus Accommodation Administrator to join their Housing and Residence Affairs team in Bloemfontein.
This is a fantastic 3-year contract opportunity for someone who can manage administrative tasks, communicate effectively, and ensure quality off-campus housing for students.
About the Role
As the Off-Campus Accommodation Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all off-campus student accommodation meets the University’s standards. Your responsibilities will cover administration, communication, and inspections, directly contributing to a safe and suitable living environment for UFS students.
What You’ll Do
Administration & Evaluation:
- Organise and verify all documents for accommodation accreditation.
- Identify and follow up on incomplete applications from service providers.
- Maintain a database of accredited off-campus student addresses.
- Schedule and assist with physical inspections of accommodation.
- Keep thorough records of all correspondence with service providers, students, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and update information on available accredited accommodation.
- Monitor police/neighbourhood watch reports for specific areas.
Communication & Liaison:
- Respond to emails and phone calls regarding accredited off-campus accommodation.
- Act as a primary contact for potential service providers, students, and visitors.
- Inform service providers about UFS policies, procedures, and directives.
- Facilitate the submission and confirmation of accreditation applications.
- Communicate inspection outcomes to service providers.
- Arrange meetings with service providers and relevant municipal bodies.
Inspections:
- Coordinate and conduct pre- and post-accreditation inspections for qualifying applicants.
- Ensure all inspections follow the provided checklist.
- Compile detailed reports for each inspection and a weekly summary of findings.
Who We Are Looking For (Requirements)
Essential Requirements:
- A Grade 12 certificate or National Vocational Certificate on NQF Level 4 (please attach a copy).
- At least one (1) year of relevant working experience related to the duties outlined above.
- A valid driver’s license (please attach a copy).
Desirable (Recommendations):
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) or a three-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in an Office Administration-related field.
- A Postgraduate qualification.
- Experience in building inspections or construction projects.
- Experience in interpreting building plans.
- Basic knowledge of relevant building legislation and rezoning/consent use protocols.

Salary: The annual remuneration package, including benefits, ranges from R231,699.90 to R388,426.59. Your specific salary will depend on budget, relevant work experience, and qualifications.
