About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join a dynamic team. This role is crucial for providing expert legal advice and support on all commercial matters, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Legal Counsel, your responsibilities will typically include:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, client contracts, and service agreements.
• Providing legal advice on business operations, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Managing legal risks and developing strategies to protect company interests.
• Assisting with corporate governance matters and developing company policies.
• Collaborating with various departments to achieve business objectives while ensuring legal soundness.
• Keeping abreast of relevant legal developments and advising on their impact on the business.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• An LLB degree (or equivalent) and admission as an attorney in South Africa.
• Proven experience as a Commercial Legal Counsel, preferably within a corporate environment or a reputable law firm.
• Strong knowledge of South African commercial law, contract law, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• A keen eye for detail and strong analytical capabilities.
