About the Role

As the Actuarial Life Insurance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving key actuarial processes within the life insurance division. This includes managing valuations, conducting experience investigations, supporting product development, and ensuring regulatory reporting. You will lead a team of actuarial analysts and work closely with senior management to contribute to the financial stability and strategic growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review actuarial valuations for various life insurance products (e.g., IFRS, SAM).
• Oversee experience investigations and the setting of actuarial assumptions.
• Provide essential actuarial support for new product development and pricing strategies.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Prepare comprehensive actuarial reports for senior management and committees.
• Mentor and support the professional development of junior actuarial staff.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives and special projects as required.

What We’re Looking For

• A Qualified Actuary (FASSA or equivalent) with at least 5-7 years of post-qualification experience specifically in life insurance.
• Proven experience in actuarial valuations, product development, and robust risk management.
• Strong leadership and effective people management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and clear communication abilities.
• Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., Prophet, MoSes) and advanced Excel skills.
• A deep understanding of the South African regulatory environment, including SAM and IFRS 17.
