Platform Data Engineer

About the Role

As a Platform Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and enhancing our data platform environment. Your responsibilities will include:

• Contributing to the design and development of new applications and systems for our data platform.
• Analyzing business and system requirements to build and improve data platforms.
• Providing input to the Architect during the creation of solution design documentation for both new and existing data platforms.

What We’re Looking For

Education

• A relevant degree in Information Technology or Data Analysis.

Minimum Experience & Skills

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (degree or diploma).
• 3-5 years of proven experience in:
  • Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Data warehousing
  • Data transformation information systems
• Proficiency in:
  • AWS (Cloud Environment)
  • Python
  • SQL
  • Postgres
• Experience with data storage and access technologies.
• Understanding of testing methodologies.
• Experience in mentorship and quality assurance of others’ work.

Key Knowledge Areas

• IT systems development processes (SDLC).
• Data pipelines.
• Relational database systems and/or cloud data warehousing and/or big data frameworks.
• Dimensional modelling.
• Standards and governance.
• Testing and quality assurance practices.

Ideal Experience & Knowledge (Advantageous)

• Experience working with AWS Technologies and Azure.
• Orchestration technologies.
• Data modelling.
• Data architecture (technical design and implementation processes).
• Knowledge of the banking systems environment and business model.
