Quality Assurance Architect (Stellenbosch)

About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Architect, you will serve as a key subject matter expert and senior advisor on all matters related to Quality Assurance architecture. Your responsibilities will include defining technology solutions for your domain, ensuring designs meet both current and anticipated future technological requirements, and developing and maintaining architectural components in line with System Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a senior advisor and expert for all Quality Assurance (QA) architecture-related topics.
• Define technology solutions for the domain, ensuring they are designed to meet present and future technological demands.
• Develop, maintain, and ensure the usability of architectural components, adhering to System Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) principles.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Ideal Qualifications:

• A relevant tertiary qualification is highly preferred.

Experience

Minimum Experience Required:

• 8 or more years of Software Development experience, which must include:
• At least 4 years in Software Design.
• At least 4 years of proven work experience in Software Engineering and Development (with expertise in Cobol, Java, .NET, Python, and/or JavaScript).
• Practical experience with:
• UI Automation: Using Playwright + BrowserStack for fast, cross-browser testing.
• Load Testing: Utilizing K6 for performance testing.
• Observability: Working with Instana and OpenSearch for deep diagnostics.

Ideal Experience:

• In addition to the minimum requirements:
• At least 4 years of proven experience specifically as a QA Architect.
• Previous experience within the Banking and Finance industry.

Knowledge & Skills

Minimum Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of Systems Architecture principles (IT technologies and software architecture).
• Proficiency in Systems Analysis and Design.
• Experience with Agile systems development processes (CI/CD standards and Agile delivery methods).
• Knowledge of Software Development (typed and scripting coding languages).
• Understanding of Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) for designing scalable and resilient solutions.
• Familiarity with standards, governance, and best practices to simplify standards and governance processes.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Solid understanding of the Banking systems environment and business model.
• Experience with Business Process Modelling and Business Analysis.
• Knowledge of Cloud architectures and Big Data modelling.
• Familiarity with best practices for Quality Assurance (QA).
• Understanding of DevOps development culture and principles.
• Knowledge of various development technologies (preferably: Cobol, Java, .NET, JavaScript, and Python ecosystems).
