

Mechanical Technician (Officer- post level10/11): Facilities Management
The University of the Free State is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join its Facilities Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting workmanship and mechanical equipment, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for:
- Inspecting workmanship and mechanical equipment
- Managing daily work task operations
- Ensuring quality control on repairs and new mechanical installations
- Assisting with signing off on preventive planned maintenance job cards
- Requesting allocations to mechanical contractors
- Managing contracts, including the Building Management System (BMS) and Atbro Systems Preventive contract
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Inherent Job Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- An N6 Engineering qualification on NQF Level5
- A trade test (Industrial Refrigeration) qualification
- A minimum of2 years’ post-qualification relevant experience as a technician
- A valid driver’s license code8 or10
