The Role: Software Development Manager

As a Software Development Manager, you will provide strategic technical direction and lead multiple teams responsible for the full product lifecycle. This includes the technical delivery of all product features, support, and maintenance tasks. You will also oversee the continuous drive to increase efficiency, optimisation, innovation, and people development within these environments.

What You’ll Need

Minimum Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in software development management.
• Proven experience in leading and working within an agile development environment.
• Experience in either back-end or front-end development.
• Ability to craft and manage roadmaps effectively.
• Experience in managing a budget.
• Demonstrated technical skills to support and guide a technical team.
• Ability to establish priorities and successfully manage deliverables.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Leadership skills to influence various areas within the organisation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Information Technology – Computer Science.

Ideal or Preferred Qualifications:

• Honours Degree in Commerce or Information Technology – Computer Science.

Required Knowledge:

Minimum:

• Functional knowledge specific to the product (e.g., Credit or App).
• People management and development practices and principles.
• Stakeholder management.
• Budgeting and accounting principles.
• Business analysis and design.
• Project Management principles and methodologies.

Ideal:

• Understanding of the Banking industry.
• Knowledge of a Central Collections environment.
• Familiarity with Capitec Bank Systems Environment and Business Model.
• Agile development principles.
• Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
